Another Disney D23 event has come and gone and we were once again graced with a host of exciting announcements across the Disney properties - from Park updates, and new cruise ships, we’ve got a lot to cover! So let’s dive in!

Disney Parks

Over the next decade or so, a variety of Disney Parks around the world will be getting exciting updates to their offerings! We’ll go through them park-by-park.

Villains

At D23 this year, Disney Parks announced the largest expansion of Magic Kingdom ever! The announcement that excited me the most is definitely the Disney Villains are finally getting their own space! There’s not much information at the moment but it’s exciting to hear that Imagineers are finally giving us a separate land based on the villains in the Disney universe. The concept art looks pretty awesome too! There’s no date for the beginning of construction, but planning is underway.

Cars will also be racing into Magic Kingdom. Frontierland is being reimagined to introduce the Cars franchise to the park. The setting will not be Radiator Springs as it is in Disneyland, we’ll race off into the wilderness for two new Cars attractions - one that will be an off-road thrilling rally race, and a family-friendly attraction that even the youngest racers will love. Construction is slated to begin in 2025!

You’ll enter the land through Pueblo Esperanza, a fictional village in the heart of the rainforest. Although it’s fictional, that won’t stop you from feeling that people actually live there and have done so for known history! Construction will begin soon and the land is due to open in 2027!

Elsewhere in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, it was also announced that the newest show in the Tree of Life theatre will be “Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” Featuring Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde, and all their friends from Disney Animation’s Zootopia, the show will take guests on an adventure through different biomes seen in the film and opens next (US) winter.
